Extreme heat wreaks havoc in Madhya Pradesh, heat wave alert in 20 districts today, Narmadapuram hottest
Bhopal. The heat has intensified in Madhya Pradesh. Today on Friday, a warning has been issued regarding heat wave in 20 districts of the state. These include Ratlam, Jhabua, Dhar, Alirajpur, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Narmadapuram, Betul, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Mandla and Balaghat. There is also a possibility of light rain in some areas on April 19 and 20.
In view of the increasing effect of summer, the timings of schools in Anuppur have been changed from 7 am to 12 noon. Whereas in Dindori, classes from nursery to 8th will be conducted only from 7:30 am to 12 noon. According to the Meteorological Department, Narmadapuram was the hottest city in the state on Thursday, where the temperature reached 43 degrees Celsius, which is the highest level of this season so far. Apart from this, heat like conditions also persisted in Ratlam, Dhar, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Mandla and Balaghat.
Talking about temperature, after Narmadapuram, Ratlam recorded 42.8 degrees. 42 degrees in Damoh and Mandla, 41.8 degrees in Shajapur, 41.7 degrees in Guna, 41.5 degrees in Malajkhand, Tikamgarh and Chhindwara, 41.4 degrees in Umaria and Sheopur, 41 degrees in Dhar and Khajuraho, 40.9 degrees in Satna, 40.8 degrees in Khargone, 40.7 degrees in Sagar, Datia and Sidhi. It was 40.6 degrees Celsius, Khandwa and Betul recorded 40.5 degrees, Seoni and Rewa 40.4 degrees, while Naugaon recorded 40.2 degrees Celsius. The effect of heat was clearly visible even in the big cities of the state. The temperature was recorded at 41.4 degrees in Jabalpur, 40.5 degrees in Bhopal and Gwalior, 40.7 degrees in Ujjain and 40.1 degrees in Indore.
According to meteorologists, the heat increases rapidly from the second fortnight of April and by the end of the month the temperature can create new records. This time also there is a possibility of further increase in temperature. The Meteorological Department has advised people to remain alert. It has been advised to drink enough water throughout the day, keep the body hydrated, avoid strong afternoon sun and wear light colored cotton clothes. Especially an appeal has been made to take more care of children and the elderly.
