Richmond (Virginia). A very sad and shocking incident has come to light related to Fairfax, the former Lieutenant Governor of America’s Virginia state. Fairfax, who was battling sexual harassment allegations, mental stress and family disputes, committed suicide after shooting his wife.
According to CNN report, the incident happened late Thursday night at his home in Annandale, Virginia. The couple’s two teenage children were also present in the house at the time of the incident. The son himself called the emergency number 911 and informed the police. Police arrived at the scene and found the bodies of Fairfax and his wife Serena inside the house.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that this incident was the result of a domestic dispute. According to police, Fairfax first shot his wife in the basement of the home and then went into his bedroom and shot himself. It was told that despite the divorce process, both were living in separate rooms in the same house.
According to court documents, Serena Fairfax filed for divorce in July 2025. Recently, the court gave primary custody of the children to the mother and also imposed strict conditions on Fairfax regarding alcohol consumption. He was ordered to take an alcohol test before meeting the children.
The report also revealed that Fairfax was suffering from depression and drug addiction for a long time. After leaving office in 2022, he had confined himself to home. The court had also directed him to leave the house.
Fairfax served as Lieutenant Governor of Virginia from 2018 to 2022 and was considered a rising leader of the Democratic Party. However, the sexual harassment allegations against him deeply damaged his political career. Police said that now the children will be taken care of by their family members. This incident has shocked the entire area and is being seen as a major family tragedy.
