Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport will remain closed for 7 hours daily till May 18.

Kathmandu,. Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) located in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, will remain closed for seven hours every night from today till May 18. Its objective is to accelerate infrastructure development works.

According to Induraj Adhikari, head of the airport terminal management division, all flight operations—including takeoffs and landings—will be suspended from 11:45 pm to 6:30 am so that paving work can be carried out. At present, construction work is going on on the taxiway near the runway and for security reasons it has been decided to keep the airport closed at night.

The airport office has said that this temporary closure is aimed at expediting the ongoing upgrade works. Airlines have been requested to make necessary changes in their flight schedules to minimize inconvenience during this period.
