Virat Kohli gets orange cap again due to his brilliant performance in IPL 2026
New Delhi . There has been a big change in the race for the Orange Cap after Royal Challengers Bangalore’s five-wicket win over Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. On the basis of his brilliant performance in this match, Virat Kohli has once again reached the top position.
Chasing the target of 206 runs, Kohli, while opening the match, played a brilliant inning of 81 runs in 44 balls. Batting till the 14th over, he laid a strong foundation for the team’s victory and also became the ‘Player of the Match’. With this innings, Kohli has now reached the first position in the Orange Cap list by scoring 328 runs in 7 innings. He left behind Abhishek Sharma (323 runs) of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Heinrich Klaasen (320 runs) is in third place, while Gujarat Titans’ Shubman Gill has reached fourth place with 297 runs. Gill scored 32 runs in 24 balls in this match, leaving Sanju Samson of Chennai Super Kings at the top.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar has also moved ahead in the list after this match. Although he scored only 8 runs in this match, but with a total of 238 runs he has reached equal to Ishan Kishan. On the basis of strike rate, Patidar is at eighth place and Kishan is at ninth place. Gujarat’s B Sai Sudarshan scored his fifth century of the season by scoring a century in 58 balls and made it to the top-10.
This match did not have much impact in the race for the Purple Cap, because only eight wickets fell in the match. Gujarat’s Prasidh Krishna remains at the third position with 12 wickets and is jointly in this position with Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Ishan Malinga. Anshul Kamboj of Chennai Super Kings and Prince Yadav of Lucknow Super Giants are at the top.
