PM Modi to visit Sikkim on April 27-28, will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of many projects
New Delhi . Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Sikkim on April 27 and 28, where he will attend the closing ceremony of the state’s 50th Statehood celebrations and inaugurate, inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects worth over Rs 4,000 crore.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, he will reach Gangtok on April 27 at around 3 pm. On the morning of April 28, the Prime Minister will visit the Orchidarium in Gangtok, where the state-of-the-art ‘Swarnajayanti Maitri Manjari Park’ has been developed to showcase the biological and floral heritage of the state.
After this the Prime Minister will participate in the closing ceremony of the 50th year of statehood organized at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok and address the public meeting. On this occasion, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth more than Rs 4,000 crore across the state. These projects will give impetus to various sectors like infrastructure, connectivity, health, education, energy, urban development, environment, tourism and agriculture.
After this, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of a 100-bed Ayurveda Hospital at Yangang in Namchi district. NIT will also inaugurate a 30-bed integrated Sowa-Rigpa hospital at Deorali, which will promote traditional medical services.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the permanent campus of Sikkim University, the administrative building of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose University of Excellence, Helen Lepcha Medical College and Dentum Professional College. Apart from this, model residential schools, a new degree college and monastic hostel-cum-classroom will also be inaugurated. IT based educational infrastructure will also be started in 160 schools of the state.
To strengthen connectivity, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of two double-lane steel arch bridges over the Teesta river and inaugurate the widening and strengthening project of the road from Birdhang to Namchi. In the energy sector, the upgradation of transmission and distribution network in Gangtok will be inaugurated, making power supply more reliable. Under urban development, Public Service Secretariat at Lumse, Civil Services Officers Institute at Gangtok and various residential projects will be inaugurated. Also, the foundation stone of Sadbhav Mandap will be laid on MG Marg.
Under environment protection, redevelopment of sewerage system in Singtam and Rani Chu River Pollution Control Project in Gangtok will be inaugurated. In the tourism sector, redevelopment of the Ridge Precinct, eco-tourism and pilgrimage infrastructure at Soreng, facilities related to Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and tourist accommodation will be inaugurated. Also, the foundation stone of the eco-pilgrimage complex will be laid in Gyalshing.
Apart from this, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Sikkim IFFCO Processing Plant, which will help in agricultural processing and increasing the income of farmers. At the same time, indoor cricket facility will also be inaugurated in Pakyong district.
