Veteran photographer Raghu Rai: Veteran photographer Raghu Rai, who captured different aspects of India in his camera, is no more. Today, Sunday morning, Raghu Rai breathed his last at the age of 83 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Rai was ill for a long time, due to which he was admitted to the hospital. Raghu Rai’s last rites will be performed at Lodhi cremation ground at 4 pm on Sunday evening. Bollywood celebs are also in shock after the death of Raghu Rai. Bollywood stars paid tribute

Bollywood actress Dia Mirza has paid tribute to Raghu Rai through social media. While sharing a picture of Raghu Rai, he wrote- ‘May God rest your soul.’ Apart from Dia Mirza, many other Bollywood celebrities including singer and lyricist Swanand Kirkire and photographer Atul Kabekar have condoled the demise of Raghu Rai. Photographer Atul Kasbekar wrote- ‘Simply put, he was the greatest person of this country. With his departure an era came to an end. May his soul rest in peace.

Battle against prostate cancer
Raghu Rai’s son and photographer Nitin Rai, while talking to news agency PTI, confirmed his father’s demise and said that Raghu Rai had prostate cancer two years ago, although later he started getting relief from it. But, the cancer returned and spread to the stomach and was cured. Recently the cancer spread to the brain and some other age related problems also started.

Who is in Raghu Rai’s family?
Talking about Raghu Rai’s personal life, he was born in 1942 in Jhang, Punjab, British India, which is now in Pakistan. He learned the tricks of photography from his elder brother, photographer S. Paul, in 1962 and made his mark at the national level. Raghu was also famous for capturing historical events like the Bhopal gas tragedy with his camera, in which the photographs he took of the victims depicted the horror of that accident and attracted the attention of the whole world. He is survived by his wife Gurmeet, son Nitin and three daughters Lagan, Avni and Purvai.
