Terror module exposed in Chandigarh’s Shambhu blast, four arrested including main leader
Chandigarh. A big revelation has come to light in the case of bomb blast on the railway track in Shambhu, Punjab. The investigation has indicated the activation of a terrorist module, which is being linked to handlers based in Pakistan. Railway’s Special DG Shashi Prabha Dwivedi, after visiting the spot, has expressed apprehension about the role of Pakistani agencies.
He told that a goods train was passing through the track at the time of the blast. Although there was no damage to the train, the driver suffered a shock, after which he immediately informed the authorities. Preliminary investigation revealed that the person killed in the blast had come to plant the bomb. He has been identified as Jagroop Singh, resident of Panjwad village of Tarn Taran. His bike was recovered from Amritsar, while a ticket from Sirhind to Rajpura and a mobile phone were found in his pocket. Investigation of call details is ongoing.
According to the police, Jagroop Singh has been close to pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal and had also campaigned for him in the 2024 elections. He had earlier gone to Dubai and after returning was living in Nihang guise. According to officials, this is the second attack on the corridor.
Meanwhile, DIG Kuldeep Singh Chahal said that a big terrorist module has been busted in this case. On the basis of interrogation, the main leader of the module, Pardeep Singh Khalsa, has come to light, who was running an organization named Hichalda Waheer Chakraborty, Atariahn. He was in touch with Malaysia-based Khalistani militant groups and handlers in Pakistan.
Police arrested Pardeep Singh Khalsa along with Kulwinder Singh Bagga, Satnam Singh Satta and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi and recovered arms and ammunition from them. The aim of the accused was to spread terror and reactivate extremism by carrying out terrorist incidents in Punjab.
Police have registered a case in this regard at Patiala Kotwali police station. Interrogation of the accused is going on and they will be produced in the court and remand will be taken so that the foreign funding and international connections can be investigated in depth.
