Supreme Court of Nepal gave notice to the government on formation of property investigation commission.
Kathmandu. The Supreme Court of Nepal has issued a show cause notice to the government regarding the formation of the Assets Investigation Commission.
Describing the Assets Investigation Commission as illegal, a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court demanding its repeal. Hearing this, the single bench of Justice Bal Krishna Dhakal issued a show cause order. Along with this, the court has also ordered to hear this case on priority basis.
The petition claims that the Anti Corruption Bureau and other regular bodies of the state already exist to investigate the assets of persons holding public positions.
The petitioners have argued that a parallel commission has been constituted which conflicts with the jurisdiction of these institutions, questioning which a petition has been filed in the court.
