Madrid Open 2026: Alexander Zverev beats Alexander Blox to reach finals

Madrid. In the Madrid Open, world number-3 Alexander Zverev performed brilliantly on Friday night and entered the final by defeating rising Belgian player Alexander Blox in straight sets 6-2, 7-5. Now he will face world number-1 Jannik Sinner in the title match.

After the match, Zverev said, “I am very happy to reach the final. There were many tough matches and struggles here. I am excited to play against Jannik Sinner again. It seems very easy for him to play tennis at the moment, but hopefully I will give him a tough competition in the final.”

Zverev dominated from the beginning of the match and took a 5-1 lead by getting a break in the first and fifth games of the first set. Although the Blokes fought hard to save a few set points, the German won the set at the fourth opportunity.

The Blokes fought hard in the second set and saved several break points, but Zverev eventually got the decisive break to lead 6–5 and win the match.

With this victory, Zverev has reached the final for the first time this season. He has previously won the Madrid Open title in 2018 and 2021 and will now aim to win the trophy for the third time.
