IPL 2026: Gujarat Titans fifth consecutive win, beat Hyderabad by 82 runs
Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans continued their stellar performance in IPL 2026, registering their fifth consecutive win. In the match played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Gujarat defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs and secured the top position in the points table. With this victory, Gujarat has 16 points.
After winning the toss, Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins decided to bowl first. However, Gujarat’s start was not as expected. Captain Shubhman Gill and star batsman Jos Buttler returned to the pavilion within the powerplay. The team could score only 34 runs in the first six overs.
In difficult circumstances, Sai Sudarshan held one end and controlled the team by batting with restraint. Despite the slow pitch and tight bowling, he scored a brilliant half-century. Sudarshan scored 61 runs in 44 balls and completed his third consecutive and fifth half-century this season. With this, he also became the first batsman to complete 500 runs in IPL 2026. Now he has also reached the top in the race for Orange Cap.
Apart from him, Washington Sundar also batted well and scored 50 runs in 33 balls. Gujarat scored 168 runs after losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. For Hyderabad, Praful Hinge and Saqib Hussain took 2-2 wickets, while Pat Cummins got one success.
Chasing the target of 169 runs, the Hyderabad team looked under pressure from the very beginning and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The entire team was reduced to just 86 runs in 14.5 overs. Captain Pat Cummins scored the highest 19 runs.
For Gujarat, Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets each. Whereas Prasidh Krishna got two successes. With this big win, Gujarat Titans have taken strong steps towards the playoffs, while Hyderabad’s problems have increased further.
