NEET Paper Leak: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday said it has arrested PV Kulkarni, the alleged “kingpin” of the NEET-UG 2026 exam question paper leak. He is accused of running “special coaching classes” at his residence in Pune, where he allegedly dictated questions, answer options and correct answers, which were later matched with the actual exam paper. According to the investigating agency, accused P.V. Kulkarni had allegedly contacted the students in the last week of April with the help of another accused Manisha Waghmare (who was arrested on May 14).
How was the plan made for paper leak?

Kulkarni then conducted special coaching sessions for the students, where she dictated questions, answer choices and correct answers, which the students copied by hand into notebooks. The agency said the handwritten notes recovered during investigation completely match the actual question paper of Chemistry of NEET-UG 2026 exam held on May 3.

Kulkarni is a retired professor of chemistry in a local college in Latur city of Maharashtra. Kulkarni had retired from a prestigious college four years ago and was part of the committee that prepared the question paper for Chemistry subject for NEET. Kulkarni retired four years ago and was a member of the committee that prepared the NEET paper for Chemistry, PTI reported.

How did the professor get arrested?

The investigating agency CBI, which is probing the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, on Friday interrogated the director of a leading coaching institute in Latur city of Maharashtra. A CBI team visited the residence of Renukai Chemistry Classes (RCC) director Shivraj Motegaonkar in Shivnagar area late on Thursday night and again on Friday morning as part of its investigation into the case.

It further said that search operations were conducted at multiple locations across the country in the last 24 hours, resulting in the seizure of electronic gadgets, mobile phones and documents, which are now being forensically analyzed.
