CBI arrested Assistant Commissioner in bribery case
New Delhi. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested the Assistant Commissioner of the Food and Supplies Department in a bribery case at the Asian Market in Pushp Vihar.
According to CBI, based on the complaint of the complainant, the agency had registered a case against the accused Assistant Commissioner on May 20. He is accused of demanding a bribe at the rate of Rs 100 per ration card for the smooth allocation and distribution of 475 ration cards.
Around 120 ration cards were to be allotted to each nearby shop, including the complainant’s shop. Accordingly, the accused officer had demanded a total illegal amount of Rs 12 thousand from the complainant.
After receiving the complaint, the CBI team laid a trap and during a planned action on Thursday, caught the accused Assistant Commissioner red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. At present the investigation of the case is going on.
CBI urged the people that if they get information about any case of corruption or any government official demands bribe from them, they should report it without fear.
