Kharge on the inflation of petroleum products, Kejriwal raised questions on the government

New Delhi. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal have put the Central Government in the dock after the prices of petroleum products in the country have increased four times in less than a month. Both the leaders said that the life of the people has become difficult due to continuously increasing inflation and the government has no concrete solution to stop it.

While talking to journalists, Kharge alleged that the government has no vision and is not serious about the problems of the poor and the youth. During the time of UPA government, when international crude oil prices had increased a lot, people were given relief by giving subsidy, but today the government is increasing the price by sometimes 90 paise, sometimes by one rupee and sometimes by two rupees, which clearly shows that their economy is not stable. People are suffering from unemployment and inflation, daily essentials have become expensive for the poor, the cost of children’s fees and education has increased. He alleged that the government was selling public sector companies to its friends and eliminating employment opportunities.

Kharge said that today the public is facing a double blow. On one side there is unemployment and on the other side there is inflation. For the poor, everyday essentials like milk, vegetables, clothes, books and even children’s fees have become expensive. The government does not have any concrete policy and the Prime Minister does not even understand how to handle the economy. During the UPA regime, Manmohan Singh had strengthened the country by handling the economy despite the global crisis, but today the Modi government is only engaged in benefiting the rich and making the poor poorer.

Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal said in a video message released on Twitter that even today the central government has increased the prices of petrol and diesel by an average of two and a half rupees. This is the fourth increase in the last few days and till now the prices have increased by Rs 8. When Russia and Iran are ready to provide cheap and sufficient quantity of oil and gas to India, then why is the government not buying from them. He said that three days ago he had asked the countrymen whether we should buy oil and gas from Russia and Iran, on which about 97 percent people supported. When the public is demanding and options are available, then what is the compulsion of the Prime Minister that he is not buying oil and gas from these countries.

Kejriwal said that 140 crore people of the country are continuously facing the burden of inflation and the government has no concrete answer. When cheaper options are available, the government should take immediate steps to provide relief to the public.

It is noteworthy that in the last one month, the prices of petrol, diesel, CNG and LPG have increased four times continuously. On May 25, petrol in Delhi reached Rs 102.12 per liter and diesel reached Rs 95.20 per liter. Earlier on May 23, petrol was increased by 87 paise and diesel by 91 paise per liter. Even on May 18, the prices of petrol and diesel had increased by about 90 paise per liter and CNG had become costlier by Re 1 per kg. On May 15, the prices of petrol and diesel were increased by Rs 3 per liter and CNG became costlier by Rs 2 per kg. Earlier on May 01, the price of commercial LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 993, after which its price in Delhi became Rs 3,071.50.
