ATS’s big revelation: Conspiracy to murder woman leader foiled, Pakistani gangster and terrorist linked to ISI arrested

Lucknow/Azamgarh. Uttar Pradesh ATS has exposed a major terrorist conspiracy and arrested a youth named Mohammad Sheikh from Azamgarh. According to the investigating agencies, the accused was in contact with Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti and ISI-backed terrorist network and was given the task of killing a woman leader of a political party. 9 mm pistol and live cartridges have also been recovered from the possession of the accused.

ADG Law and Order and STF Amitabh Yash said that intelligence agencies had received information that Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI was planning major terrorist incidents in India through the network of terrorist organizations and gangsters. The name of Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti has come up prominently in this network.

Youth were creating sleeper cells through social media

Investigation has revealed that Shehzad Bhatti’s network was trapping Indian youth through social media platforms. They were being groomed as sleeper cells by luring them with money, inciting religious sentiments and pushing them towards fundamentalism.

According to ATS, attempts were made to connect many youth from Western Uttar Pradesh to Purvanchal with this network. This has also revealed information about conducting recce of important persons, institutions and sensitive places. Investigative agencies suspect that the network was working on conspiracies such as assassination of political leaders, attacks on political party offices and targeting security forces.

Contact via WhatsApp and social media

Based on electronic surveillance and intelligence, ATS suspected the activities of Mohammad Sheikh, resident of Khudadadpur in Nizamabad area of ​​Azamgarh. Investigation revealed that he was in touch through WhatsApp on Pakistan and Dubai numbers and was connected to terrorist networks through social media accounts.

The allegation is that he was propagating Jihadi ideology and inspiring other youth to join this network. Apart from Shehzad Bhatti, he was also being instructed by his associates Ajmal Gurjar and Raza Pakistani.

Was given the task of killing a woman leader

According to the ATS, Mohammed Shaikh was given the responsibility of threatening and killing a woman leader of a political party from another state as a “trial mission”. To carry out this mission, he himself had arranged for 9 mm pistol and cartridges. ATS took timely action and arrested him, due to which a major incident was averted.

Intensive interrogation will be done on remand

ATS has registered a case against the accused under sections of UAPA, Indian Justice Code (BNS) and Arms Act. The agency will now take him on remand and interrogate him about his ISI handlers, foreign contacts, local associates and possible terrorist network.
