Chaos in Kuwait and Bahrain due to Iran’s attacks, US Army shoots down drone-missile, explosions in Lebanon
Kuwait City/Manama/Beirut/Washington. Iran has made its intentions clear by carrying out air strikes on Kuwait and Bahrain amid efforts for a peace agreement with America. Kuwait and Bahrain are allies of America. There are American military bases at both places. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has admitted that it has targeted American bases in these countries. Iran is currently distraught by the Israeli attacks on Lebanon. Israel is destroying the bases of Hezbollah, a pro-Iranian terrorist group that has taken root in Lebanon. US President Donald Trump’s appeal to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop the attacks has proved ineffective.
Kuwait’s air defense system is currently responding to enemy drone and missile attacks, according to reports by Kuwait Times, Gulf News and Al Jazeera. The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces announced late Tuesday that the country had been hit by a drone and missile attack. He said the air defense systems were responding to enemy drone and missile attacks. The General Staff later said in a statement that explosions were still occurring.
The US Army has strongly countered these attacks. US Central Command says it has ‘defeated’ Iran’s missile and drone attacks. It has “successfully repelled” a series of Iranian missile and drone attacks on its neighboring countries. Also retaliated in self-defense on Iran’s Qeshm Island. “Iran fired several ballistic missiles towards neighboring countries. None of them reached their intended targets. Two Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait fell before reaching their targets or disintegrated en route. Three missiles fired at Bahrain were intercepted by US and Bahraini air defense systems,” the Central Command said in a statement.
Bahrain’s Interior Ministry confirmed that security sirens were sounded after receiving reports of an attack. According to the ministry, Bahrain has also closed its airspace and halted civilian flights. Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Interior Ministry appealed to the public not to go near or touch any missile fragments, suspicious objects or debris.
US Central Command has said that its forces have rendered an empty oil tanker useless. This tanker was trying to head towards an Iranian port located in the Arabian Gulf. The command said a US aircraft fired a Hellfire missile at the engine room of the Botswana-flagged MT Lexi. After this the tanker could not reach Kharg island. Since the implementation of the blockade, the US military has so far disabled six commercial ships and forced the diversion of 122 other ships.
Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon on Tuesday killed five people, including a child, and injured 48, Lebanon’s health ministry said. The ministry said in a statement that those injured in the attacks included a doctor and five employees of Tebanin Government Hospital. This hospital has also been damaged by the blasts.
