Slow start of film ‘Bandar’ directed by Anurag Kashyap and starring Bobby Deol

Mumbai The film ‘Bandar’ directed by Anurag Kashyap and starring Bobby Deol was not successful in attracting the audience on the first day at the box office. The film did a net business of around Rs 50 lakh on the first day of its release. Released in 1,365 shows, this prison drama film got an average occupancy of only 12.58 percent, which points towards its weak start.

The morning shows of the film remained almost empty. Only 3.38 percent seats were filled in the initial shows, however, the number of viewers increased in the evening and night shows and the occupancy reached 18.08 percent. Despite having the maximum number of shows in Delhi-NCR, the expected crowd was not seen in the theatres.

According to trade reports, ‘Bandar’ has registered a better opening than Anurag Kashyap’s previous film ‘Nishanchi’, but this performance is considered much weaker than his earlier successful films. Apart from this, the effect of tough competition from other big films released this week is also clearly visible on its box office collection. Now the hopes of the film rest on the weekend performance.
