Delhi: 3 Air India planes damaged at IGI airport
New Delhi: There was strong wind and rain at Terminal 2 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday. Three narrowbody aircraft of Air India were hit by this and were damaged. The operator said that all three aircraft have been removed from operations after the collision.
What is the whole matter?
According to the operator, the ground equipment of Air India Engineering and IndiGo suddenly moved from its place due to bad weather and collided with the planes parked at Terminal 2. According to the private operator, the air traffic control had not issued any warning (to the airport operator or the airlines) about any change in the weather. In such a situation, who is responsible for this loss has become a big question.
However, till the time of writing the news, no comment has come from Air India in this matter. However, according to an airline source, three Air India aircraft as well as aircraft of other operators have been hit by the bad weather and affected.
However, the source also said that out of the three aircraft affected, two will be back in operation soon. However, the third aircraft will take a little more time to recover.
Weather changed in Delhi-NCR today
Amidst the scorching heat, the weather of Delhi-NCR appeared changed today. It rained with strong wind on Sunday evening. Due to rain, people got relief from the heat but the planes at the airport were damaged.
The minimum temperature in Delhi on Sunday morning was 27.7 degrees. The Meteorological Department had already said that today the day may be partly cloudy and there is a possibility of lightning along with thunder.
However, no one at the airport had any idea that the weather would directly affect the planes and damage them.
Apart from Delhi, rain was also seen in Noida and people felt relief from the heat due to humidity in the weather. It is noteworthy that Delhi-NCR is experiencing severe heat.
