Defense production and export targets will be achieved ahead of time: Rajnath Singh
New Delhi. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that India is rapidly becoming self-reliant in the defense sector and the target of defense production of Rs 3 lakh crore and defense export of Rs 50 thousand crore will be achieved before the scheduled time. He said that due to the policies of the government, there has been a significant increase in defense manufacturing and the country is now giving priority to indigenous production instead of relying on imports.
Rajnath Singh said this while addressing the bhoomi pujan program of the 10,000 ton capacity state-of-the-art Aluminum Extrusion Press at the Ordnance Manufacturing Ambazari unit of Nagpur-based Yantra India Limited on Friday. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also present on this occasion.
The Defense Minister said that after the corporatization of the Ordnance Manufacturing Board, a significant increase in production has been recorded. While the production was Rs 12,755 crore in the financial year 2019-20, it has increased to Rs 26,282 crore in the financial year 2025-26. Defense exports have increased from Rs 81 crore to Rs 4,561 crore during the same period.
