Heavy rain in Rajasthan before monsoon, more than normal rainfall recorded in many districts

Jaipur. Pre-monsoon activities remain active in Rajasthan. Yellow alert of storm and rain has been issued in more than 19 districts of the state on Sunday. Intermittent light rain and strong winds are continuing in the capital Jaipur and surrounding areas since morning.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of thunderstorm and rain activities in the state for the next three days. Apart from Kota and Bharatpur divisions, light to moderate rain occurred in many areas of Jaipur and Bikaner divisions on Saturday.

Atru in Baran district received maximum rainfall of 62 mm (about 2 inches), while 40 mm rainfall was measured in Kishanganj, 28 mm in Chauth Ka Barwada of Sawai Madhopur and 15 mm in Jasarsar of Bikaner.

In the last 24 hours, Jhalawar, Kota, Baran, Bundi, Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Dausa, Karauli and Bikaner districts remained cloudy with light to moderate rain at many places.

Stormy rains along with strong winds were seen in some areas of Bikaner in the afternoon. Amidst the rains, the effect of heat continues in the western districts of the state.

Phalodi was the hottest on Saturday, where the maximum temperature was measured at 40.8 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, 40.3 degree Celsius temperature was recorded in Sriganganagar, 39.8 in Barmer, 39.5 in Jaisalmer, 39.4 in Jodhpur, 39 in Alwar and 38.3 degree Celsius in Bikaner.

According to the Meteorological Department, the normal entry of monsoon in Rajasthan is around June 25, but this time it is expected to arrive with some delay.

However, pre-monsoon activities have been quite good in June. Generally, the state receives about 23 mm rainfall during the pre-monsoon period, whereas this year so far 44 mm rainfall has been received.

30 districts of the state have received more rainfall than normal during pre-monsoon. Due to rain and clouds, the temperature has dropped in many cities, giving relief to the people from the heat.
