Britain’s PM Keir Starmer resigns, the sixth PM in the UK to step down in a decade

London . British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced his resignation from his post. Keir Starmer has resigned from his post after months of pressure from many of his Labor Party MPs. He will remain in his post until a new leader is elected. Now the ruling Labor Party will hold internal elections to choose the new leadership.

Starmer’s emotional farewell message

Starmer gave an emotional farewell message while leaving the post of PM. He said that after fulfilling the biggest responsibility of the country, he now wants to spend more time on the most important role of his life, i.e. the role of a good husband and father. Starmer thanked his wife Victoria, saying that she had always supported him in both good and difficult times. He said that his wife has been a strong support for him. Becoming emotional, he also mentioned his children and said that they are his biggest reason for pride and happiness.

Britain will see seventh PM in 10 years

The surprising thing is that with Starmer leaving the post of PM, now six Prime Ministers have changed in Britain within the last decade. That means, in the next few days, Britain will see its seventh PM in 10 years. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has been in this post for almost two years. He had initially said that he would face any challenge regarding leadership and would not step down. However, speculation about his resignation had increased since last weekend. US President Donald Trump had also written on social media that Starmer was going to resign. No matter what Keir Starmer claimed, he was under pressure from the Labor Party for the last several months.

He was embroiled in many controversies and his public support was also decreasing. Critics inside and outside the Labor Party say the Kiir government has failed to deliver on its election promise of improving people’s lives. The pressure on Keir increased when his Labor opponent Andy Burnham won a parliamentary seat. With this he became in a position to formally challenge Kiir.
