Gang involved in cheating in the name of marriage busted, police arrested five accused

Mirzapur. Kotwali Dehat Police in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh has busted an organized gang involved in fraud and extortion on the pretext of marriage and arrested five accused.

Police have also recovered four mobile phones and an Ertiga car used in the incident while holding Rs 1.30 lakh deposited in the bank accounts of the accused.

Superintendent of Police, City, Nitesh Singh said that a case was registered on June 29 on the complaint of Pushpendra, a resident of Kotputli-Behror, Rajasthan.

According to the complaint, on June 28, two of his relatives were called to the Hanuman temple at Lohandi Kala in Mirzapur on the pretext of organizing a marriage, where they were cheated and money was forcibly extorted by threatening to kill them.

He told that on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Aparna Rajat Kaushik, the team formed under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police City and Area Officer Sadar started investigating the case. With the help of cyber cell, Rs 1.30 lakh deposited in the bank accounts of the accused was held.

During the action, the police arrested Lavkush Yadav, Gudiya Yadav, Radha Kol, Deepak Pal and Rajendra Kumar Yadav from Lohandi Kala area. Four mobile phones and an Ertiga car used in the incident were recovered from their possession.

Police are interrogating the accused and also investigating their involvement in other gang members and other such incidents.
