Prime Minister’s Office will organize business week for Japanese companies

New Delhi. The Prime Minister on Thursday said his office will soon organize a dedicated Japan Business Week.

In this, senior officials of his office will discuss with Japanese companies with an open mind and work towards understanding their problems and making business easier.

It is noteworthy that after talks with his Japanese counterpart Sanae Takaichi today, Prime Minister Modi had said that in the next 10 years, India is aiming for investment of 10 trillion yen (Japanese currency) from Japan and doubling the number of Japanese companies working in the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the India-Japan Joint Economic Forum with the Japanese Prime Minister. During this, he inaugurated the new plant of Maruti Suzuki in Kharkhoda, Haryana.

The Prime Minister said that two-thirds of Suzuki cars in the world are made in India and they are exported to more than 100 countries.

According to the MEA spokesperson, at the Joint Economic Forum, both sides reaffirmed the important role of industry in taking forward the special strategic and global partnership.

The discussions focused on enhancing investment, strengthening resilient supply chains, pursuing manufacturing partnerships with the aim of ‘Make in India for the World’, promoting clean growth and deepening cooperation in critical and emerging technologies.

Praising the special economic partnership between India and Japan, the Prime Minister said that Japan’s expertise and investment and India’s speed and scale are together benefiting the world. Over the last 12 years, India has been changing its economic DNA by following the philosophy of continuous improvement i.e. ‘Kaizen’.

Referring to the changes taking place in the economic sector, Prime Minister Modi said that we have made next generation reforms in the fields of taxation, governance and ease of doing business.

We are opening every sector to the private sector and also giving incentives in many sectors. He believes that Japanese industries can also benefit from these.

That’s why for the last four years in a row, Japan Bank for International Cooperation surveys show that India has been the most promising destination for Japanese businesses.

The Prime Minister said that India is the fastest growing large economy in the world, India’s GDP growth rate in the last financial year was 7.7 percent. In the last 12 years we have been bringing economic transformation to India.

Noting his counterpart’s penchant for motorcycles, the Prime Minister said he was happy that Kawasaki, Yamaha and Honda bikes are manufactured in India and exported across the world. A similar situation exists in the fields of air conditioning, power grid equipment and medical technology.
