Prime Minister Takaichi returned home after giving new impetus to India-Japan relations
New Delhi. Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi left for home on Friday after completing his three-day visit to India. This was his first visit to India after becoming the Prime Minister, which is being considered an important step in giving new momentum to India-Japan relations. Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh bid him a formal farewell at the airport.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the visit proved to advance the India-Japan strategic partnership towards common goals. He said that during the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit, both the countries reiterated their commitment to further strengthen cooperation in economic, technological, security and Indo-Pacific region. Both sides also agreed to work together for peace, stability and shared prosperity.
During the visit, detailed bilateral talks took place between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sanae Takaichi. On Thursday evening, Prime Minister Modi hosted a dinner in honor of the Japanese Prime Minister, in which both the leaders discussed bilateral relations, global situations, cultural exchange and food of the two countries in a relaxed atmosphere apart from formal meetings.
Sanae Takaichi expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality of Prime Minister Modi on the social media platform ‘X’ and said that this meeting has further strengthened the personal trust between the two leaders. He also appreciated India’s rich cultural heritage and food. Takaichi expressed confidence that the strategic partnership between India and Japan will reach new heights as next year marks 75 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Japan.
