Punjab 95′: There was a lot of stir in the release of ‘Punjab 95’ due to delay due to censorship. Finally this film was released today, 03 July 2026 on OTT platform Zee5. With the silent drop at 6 pm, Diljit’s new film is in the news again. The name of the film ‘Punjab 95’ has now been changed to ‘Sutlej’. Directed by Honey Trehan, the film stars Diljit Dosanjh, Arjun Rampal, Kanwaljeet Singh, Suvinder Vicky and Geetika Vidya Olyan in lead roles. Story of Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Sutlej’
Inspired by the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh, the film ‘Sutlej’ is the story of a man who persevered in search of the truth despite fear, power and silence. Set during a period of conflict and unrest, the film reveals the horrific truth of the mysterious disappearance of thousands of people and the enormous human cost suffered by families searching for justice. His decades-long efforts to seek justice for more than 25,000 missing persons came at a heavy personal cost, testing his courage, sacrifice and stamina. Trailer release of film ‘Sutlej’
The film makers and cast have also released the official trailer of the film, which is over two minutes long and shows the political and social environment of Punjab in 1995. Through a voiceover, Arjun Rampal’s character narrates that while the police force was dealing with insurgency, some officers took advantage of the situation to their advantage. After this, Suvinder Vicky’s character appears in the trailer as a policeman, who warns Diljit Dosanjh’s character Jaswant Singh not to raise his voice against the police and says that he may lose his life if he does so.
Why did Diljit Dosanjh become a part of ‘Sutlej’?
Talking about the story of the film ‘Sutlej’ and his character, Diljit Dosanjh said:
‘It is because of the martyrdom of Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra ji and his contribution to humanity that I decided to be a part of this film. When I heard the script for the first time, I was very impressed as it is based on real life experiences, struggles and sacrifices. As an artist, it is rare to get the opportunity to be a part of such meaningful stories. As soon as I heard the script, I felt a huge responsibility towards this film and I decided that I will play such an inspirational character with truth, honesty and complete respect.
