Sinking vehicles, floating people and collapsing houses, orgy of rain
Mumbai: South-west monsoon is active, due to which heavy rains in many states of the country have increased the problems of the people. Life has been affected due to cloud burst in Doda in Jammu and Kashmir, landslide in Wayanad in Kerala and cloud burst in Kullu in Himachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in many states for the next few days.
South-West Monsoon, which has become active across the country except Rajasthan, some parts of Punjab and Haryana, is not only providing relief from heat and humidity but also causing huge devastation.
Separate alerts have been issued regarding widespread rainfall in almost the entire country in the next four-five days. Flood caused by cloudburst caused huge devastation in Thathri of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday night.
There was some relief after two days of heavy rain in Mumbai, Pune and surrounding districts. Railway services have returned to normal after the rain stopped. But Trimbakeshwar, Igatpuri and Surgana taluks of Nashik district received heavy rains, due to which roads were washed away at many places.
At least 10 people are feared buried under the debris after a building collapsed in Pimpri-Chinchwad in Pune district. During heavy rains a huge pile of garbage fell on the building, causing it to collapse. Police, fire brigade and NDRF teams have reached the spot and are carrying out rescue operations.
In Himachal Pradesh, cloud burst occurred at two places in Nirmand and Gadsa valley of Kullu district. The water in Naged ravine increased due to the flood caused by cloud burst over Naged village of Nirmand. The bridge connecting Raugi has been damaged.
Flight operations were affected due to heavy rain in Delhi and Mumbai. Due to this, airlines issued travel advisories to passengers, warning them about possible delays and advising them to check the status of their flights before leaving for the airport.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for isolated light thunderstorm, lightning and light rain in some parts of Chhattisgarh.
