Speeding truck crushes bike, couple going to celebrate son’s birthday dies

Bundi. The joy of celebrating his son’s birthday turned into mourning when a retired teacher and his wife, who were going to Kota, died in a road accident.
His bike was hit by a speeding unknown truck on Thursday afternoon near Gudla toll block on Kota-Lalsot Mega Highway in Keshavraipatan police station area of Bundi district. Both of them died on the spot in the accident.
According to the police, Kedar Lal Sharma (65), resident of Kapren, was going to Kota by bike with his wife Geeta Sharma (55). Meanwhile, a speeding truck coming from behind hit his bike hard.
The collision was so severe that both of them fell on the road and the truck ran away crushing them. As soon as the information was received, Keshavarayapatan police station reached the spot and sent the bodies of both of them to the mortuary of Kapren Hospital.
ASI Harishankar Sharma said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the couple were going to Kota to celebrate their son’s birthday. His two sons live in Kota.
Elder son Ramlal Sharma is working in the medical department, while younger son Sunil Sharma runs an electronics business. As soon as the news of the accident was received, there was chaos in the family and the birthday preparations turned into mourning.
Police found a helmet from the spot, the belt of which was entangled around the neck of deceased Kedar Lal Sharma. Both of them died on the spot due to serious head injuries.
Police have registered a case against the unknown truck driver and started investigation. The footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby including Gudla Toll Block is being scrutinized to identify the absconding vehicle and driver. Police say that soon the accused driver will be identified and arrested.
