Washington. Amidst the increasing tension in the Gulf region, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has clarified that the Strait of Hormuz is an international waterway, which will be open to the movement of commercial and other legitimate ships of all countries under international law.
CENTCOM said in a statement released on social media platform X that the US military is fully deployed and ready to ensure the safe and unhindered movement of ships on this strategic sea route. The command reiterated that the security of the Strait of Hormuz is a top priority for global energy supplies and international trade.
America also claimed in its statement that Iran has no control over the Strait of Hormuz and the movement of international ships continues continuously through this route. Washington also accused Iran of threatening the ships, harassing them and making arbitrary restrictive announcements.
It is noteworthy that in recent times, tension has increased in the region due to attacks on several ships and increasing military activities around Hormuz.
In such a situation, America has once again made it clear that it will continue to take necessary steps with its allies to maintain the security of this important sea route and freedom of international navigation.
