YNHAI increased tax on 8 toll plazas

YNHAI: If you frequently travel on the National Highways of Punjab and Haryana, then now your pocket is going to have a bigger burden. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has increased toll charges at many major toll plazas in these states. The new rates have come into effect from today. This will affect car drivers as well as bus and truck operators.

YNHAI has revised the user fees at 8 major toll plazas of Punjab and Haryana. These include Ghulal, Kot Karor, Kala Tibba, Sheikhupura, Lahra Bega, Khuiyan Sarwar, Kalajhar and Peind Toll Plaza. According to the new rates, the fare for cars and light motor vehicles has been increased by Rs 5 to Rs 10 at most places. The toll charges for buses and trucks have also been revised.

Passengers of these cities will be affected the most
The new toll rates will have the biggest impact on people traveling daily between Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Faridkot, Bathinda, Abohar, Patiala, Maur and Sangrur. Apart from private vehicle drivers, the operating costs of bus operators and goods trucks will also increase, which may have an impact on transportation expenses in the future.

New rates of some major toll plazas
One-way toll for cars and light vehicles at Ghulal Toll Plaza on Chandigarh-Kharar-Ludhiana Highway has been reduced to Rs 115 and two-way toll to Rs 170. At the same time, a fee of Rs 390 will have to be paid for buses and Rs 580 for trucks. Similarly, the one-way toll for a car at Kot Karor toll plaza will be Rs 50 and the two-way toll will be Rs 70. The fare has been fixed at Rs 165 for buses and Rs 250 for trucks. At Shekhupura toll plaza, the one-way car charge has been reduced to Rs 55 and two-way to Rs 85.
