India’s golden bet! Aman Sehrawat won gold in Budapest Ranking Series 2026
Budapest. India’s Olympic bronze medalist and Under-23 Asian champion Aman Sehrawat performed brilliantly in the Budapest Ranking Series 2026 on Wednesday, winning the gold medal in the men’s 57 kg freestyle category.
In the final of Polyak Imre, Varga Janos and Kozma Istvan Memorial Senior Ranking Tournament (Budapest Ranking Series), Aman won the title by defeating Roberti Dingashvili of Georgia by 13-3 in a completely one-sided match on the basis of technical superiority.
22-year-old Aman Sehrawat once again proved that he is among the best emerging wrestlers in the world. Earlier, he had become India’s youngest individual medal winner in the Paris Olympics. Apart from this, he is also the first wrestler from India to win a gold medal in the Under-23 World Wrestling Championship.
Deepak won the bronze medal
Another medal in India’s bag came in the 61 kg freestyle category, where Deepak won the bronze medal.
In the third place match, Deepak won the bronze medal by defeating Nuruddin Novruzov of Azerbaijan 9-8 in a very thrilling match.
Expecting two more bronze medals
India is also hoping for two more medals in the 65 kg freestyle category.
Kumar Mohit will face Nachin Kular of Kazakhstan in the bronze medal match.
Vishal Kaliraman will face Ossumzhan Dastanbek of Kazakhstan in the third place match.
Female wrestlers will also show their strength from today
From Thursday, matches in men’s 79, 92, 97 and 125 kg categories will be played in the competition.
The campaign of Indian women wrestlers will also start on the same day, in which competitions of 50 and 55 kg categories will be organized.
