America-Iran war: Oil tankers fire in the Strait of Hormuz, maritime tension at its peak

Tehran/Washington. Tension is at its peak in the international waterway Strait of Hormuz due to the war between America and Iran. Iran has confirmed fires on two oil tankers (ships). UK Maritime Operations says that it has received several reports in this regard.

The report said that an oil tanker was attacked by an unknown object (projectile) on Monday afternoon in the Strait of Hormuz near Limah coast of Oman. This agency monitors shipping in the Persian Gulf, the Northern Indian Ocean and the Red Sea.

According to CNN and Al Jazeera reports, UK Maritime Operations spoke to the security officer (CSO) of the shipping company to which the tanker belongs on Tuesday morning. “The crew has abandoned ship and are currently in the lifeboats,” the CSO said.

Shortly before this, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had claimed that a massive fire broke out after an explosion in two oil tankers trying to pass through the unsafe southern route in the Strait of Hormuz.

IRGC had claimed that these tankers were attacked for not following the rules. UK Maritime Trade Operations said there were no reports of any impact on the environment.

Earlier on Sunday also, two ships were attacked with projectiles near the coasts of Oman and United Arab Emirates.

Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) told XPost that the US military completed another round of strikes against Iran at 9 pm (Eastern Time) tonight.

The military attacked Iran’s military command centers, maritime capabilities, missiles, drone launch sites and air defense systems.

Centcom claimed that commercial vessels are continuing to move through the important international maritime corridor. US forces have helped divert nearly 900 commercial ships and 450 million barrels of crude oil since the beginning of May.

Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell wrote on Twitter that about 100 American soldiers have been injured in some way or the other since July 7 in this war. Of these, 96 soldiers have returned to duty.

This war is affecting the entire Middle East (West Asia) region. After the recent death of American soldiers, President Donald Trump has warned Iran of strong retaliation.

Meanwhile, mediators have proposed a 10-day ceasefire between America and Iran. America is increasing the number of its aircraft in the Middle East. An Israeli source said that many American fuelers (refueling planes) have reached Israel.

US officials said Iran was bombed near Sirik, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, Chabahar and Konark for the 10th consecutive night. The IRGC claims to have targeted and destroyed several US military assets in Kuwait.

According to Tasnim news agency, the attacks targeted US military long-range radar sites, telecommunication centers, satellite receiving systems and missile defense radars in Kuwait.

Attacked the MQ-9 drone hangar at Ali Al Salem airbase and destroyed several unmanned aircraft. The IRGC said it destroyed a US air defense system and radar in the Muharraq area of ​​Bahrain.
