- Documents of factory, luxurious bungalows, plots worth crores in the name of son, daughter-in-law, son-in-law recovered
Indore. On Tuesday morning, Lokayukta conducted simultaneous raids at nine locations of Shivram Semil, Superintending Engineer (Finance) of Madhya Pradesh Western Region Electricity Distribution Company. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Semil has about 258 percent more assets than his legal income. Lokayukta has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and started investigation.
Lokayukta team raided a total of nine locations of SEMIL located in Indore, Pithampur, Dhar and Morena at around 5.30 am today. This action was taken under the leadership of Lokayukta SP Rajesh Sahay. In the initial investigation, 4 kg silver, 300 grams gold and Rs 3 lakh cash have been found from Semil’s house. Apart from this, documents of factories, luxurious bungalows and plots worth crores have been recovered in the names of son, daughter-in-law and son-in-law.
These days Shivram Semil is posted in the Polo Ground office in Indore. According to the Lokayukta, during his 33 years of service, Semil has acquired wealth much more than the legal income. During the investigation, a three-storey luxurious house worth about Rs 1 crore 20 lakh was found on C-44, Silicon City, Indore. Whereas in Pithampur Sector-3, a transformer manufacturing factory named Shubham Electrical was found in the name of son Shubham, the estimated cost of which has been estimated at Rs 1 crore twenty five lakh.
Investigation also revealed that the Cornish Powerzone firm is registered in the name of the daughter-in-law and other family members, whose share capital is Rs 50 lakh. Two industrial plots have been purchased in Pithampur in the name of the firm, on one of which an old factory is operating while on the other a new factory is under construction. About Rs 1 crore has been found to have been spent on this so far.
Lokayukta also found ‘SS Electricals’ firm running in the name of son-in-law and son in Ujjaini industrial area of Dhar district. An investment of about Rs 1 crore fifty lakh has been made on three industrial plots here. In the same area, factory construction was also going on on another plot in the name of Krishna Power, on which it is estimated that about ten lakh rupees will be spent so far. During the investigation, ‘A-One Electrical’ factory, operated in the name of a relative, has also been found, in which investments worth crores of rupees are being investigated.
An office building located in Saptashrungi Nagar Silicon City in Indore was found in the name of the wife and son, the guideline value of which has been estimated at Rs 60 lakh. Apart from this, offices of firms were also searched in Anjani Nagar and Dewas Naka area located on Airport Road. A plot worth about twenty lakh rupees in the name of the sons and a Mahindra electric car worth about fifteen lakh rupees in the name of Shubham Electrical were also found in Omaxe City. A two-storey house worth about Rs 50 lakh in Ravidas Nagar of Morena also came up in the investigation, where the team of Gwalior Lokayukta searched.
According to the Lokayukta, Semil received a net salary of about Rs 2 crore during his entire service period, while till now assets and investments worth more than Rs 6 crore fifty lakh have been detected. Including living expenses, the total expenditure is estimated at more than Rs 7 crore sixteen lakhs, which is about 258 percent more than the legal income.
Lokayukta police have registered a case against Shivram Semil under sections 13(1)(B) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. At present, several teams of Lokayukta including DSP Sunil Talan, Anand Chauhan, Dinesh Patel, Deepak Shejwar are engaged in thorough investigation of documents, bank accounts and benami properties at all the nine locations.
