Chaos during Parliament march: Police-protesters clash, 118 soldiers injured, 70 detained….

New Delhi. There was huge uproar during the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) in the capital Delhi on the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament. Violent clashes took place at many places between the protesters moving from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament and the police.

Following incidents of stone pelting, breaking of barricades and vandalism on Janpath, Raisina Road and Sansad Marg, the police had to resort to lathi charge and tear gas.

After the day-long uproar, the police removed the protesters from Jantar Mantar but they returned again late at night. Meanwhile, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke announced that the agitation and Parliament march will continue on Tuesday also.

Protestors and their supporters started gathering since Tuesday night. By Tuesday evening, about 16 thousand protesters gathered in and around Jantar Mantar. The protesters chased the policemen from one place to another throughout the day. By late evening, suddenly more than four thousand people gathered near the NDMC building.

A crowd gathered. The police kept requesting repeatedly to vacate the road and people were seen getting angry. Meanwhile, the protesting people also threw water bottles at the police team.

Earlier on Monday, the protesters violated the applicable Section 163 despite repeated warnings and legal instructions. The mob pelted stones at the police, tried to break barricades and damaged public property.

Police claim that 15 to 20 government vehicles were damaged during the disturbance, while several shops were also vandalized in the Janpath area. More than 118 policemen have been injured in the violence.

These include more than five IPS officers including officers of the rank of Special Commissioner, Joint Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, DCP, Additional DCP and ACP. Many women policemen have also been injured.

At the same time, about 60 protesters are also reported injured. An injured police officer deployed at the spot said that suddenly the protesters started pelting stones near Claridges Hotel.

According to him, it seemed that the stones were arranged in advance and after the protest was over, the remaining crowd turned violent in a planned manner.

After the violence, the police have detained about 70 people. According to sources, many of the detained are not students. In such a situation, the police is now investigating the entire incident from the angle of a planned conspiracy.

FIRs are being registered against the accused under various sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). CCTV footage, social media posts and mobile videos are also under investigation.

On the other hand, talks continued amidst the ruckus on the road. CJP representatives Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka met Union Minister JP Nadda twice.

In the first meeting, the minister sought details of their demands, while in the second meeting the representatives submitted a written memorandum. However, no immediate assurance was given by the government on any demand. JP Nadda appealed to end the agitation and maintain peace.

According to government sources, Union Home Minister Amit Shah was continuously keeping an eye on the entire incident. Delhi Police and paramilitary forces were instructed to use minimum force to control the situation.

Despite this, when the situation worsened, the police had to take action. Now a detailed investigation into this violence in the capital is going on and the police say that the culprits will be identified and strict legal action will be taken against them.
