IPL 2026 Auction: Cameron Green confirms bowling availability despite registering as batter
Australian all-rounder Cameron Green confirmed on Sunday that he registered for the IPL 2026 auction as a batter due to a mistake by his manager and that he will be available to bowl in the tournament.
Green entered the IPL auction with a base price of Rs. 2 crore, listing himself under the batters’ category instead of the expected all-rounders’ lot.
“I’ll be good to bowl,” said Green on Sunday in Adelaide. “I don’t know if my manager would like to hear this, but there was a stuff-up on his end. He didn’t mean to say ‘batter’. I think he accidentally selected the wrong box. It was pretty funny how it’s all played out, but it was actually a stuff-up on his end.”
Green is widely expected to become the most expensive player at the IPL 2026 auction, with Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings the frontrunners to secure his signing.
Green, currently playing in the Ashes, said that there was no room for complacency in the third Test this week, conscious that Australia let England bounce back from 2-0 down last time out.
Australia was on top in England in 2023, winning at Edgbaston and Lord’s, before the hosts won two of the last three Tests with the other was drawn.

Despite the series ending 2-2, Pat Cummins’ side retained the Ashes as holders.
“That’s a good reminder for our team to stay really level. I think you can at times look a bit far ahead, but that’s a great reminder for us to stay as good as we can be and finish it off,” said Green.
The odds are stacked in Australia’s favour on home soil after eight-wicket wins in Perth and Brisbane, with England winless Down Under since its 2010-11 tour.
