India extends winning-run in home T20I series after beating South Africa
India extended its winning T20I series run at home with a 3-1 win over South Africa after the fifth match of the bilateral series at Ahmedabad on Friday.
Half-centuries from Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya helped India post 231 at the end of the first essay. Quinton de Kock’s blitz had kept South Africa in the hunt, but Varun Chakravarthy picked four wickets in the middle overs to dent the chase and seal the contest for the team.
India’s series win was its eighth consecutive win in the shortest format of the game, continuing the run from 2023/24 when it drew a series 1-1 in South Africa.
The unbeaten run goes even further at home, extending from 2018/19 with its last series defeat coming in a 0-2 loss to Australia. During this run, it has only drawn twice — against South Africa in 2019/20 and in 2022.
In total, India has remained unbeaten across 18 series at home.
