IND vs NZ: Sanju Samson scores third consecutive fifty in T20 World Cup Final against New Zealand

Sanju Samson scored his third consecutive half century of T20 World Cup 2026 during the final against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

He completed his fifty in 33 balls against the Kiwis, becoming the seventh batter to have three scores of 50 or more. Before this, he had an unbeaten 97 against West Indies and 89 against England.

Samson is just the third batter to notch fifties in the semifinal and final of a T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli and Shahid Afridi are the other two.

He eventually fell on 89 off 46 balls, holing out at long on against James Neesham. But he broke the record for the highest score in a T20 World Cup final and knockout.

India posted 255 for five courtesy of Samson’s innings, the highest team total in a T20 World Cup final.
