Mumbai Indians began its IPL 2026 campaign with a convincing six-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

It was the first instance of the side winning its season opener since 2012, breaking a 13-year losing streak.

Half-centuries from openers Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton helped the side chase down the 221-run target with five balls to spare.
