Arvind Kejriwal Acquitted: Big relief to Kejriwal-Sisodia in liquor policy case, court said

Delhi’s famous excise policy Giving a major verdict in the case (Arvind Kejriwal Acquitted), the Rouse Avenue Court acquitted former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia of the charges.

The court said that the evidence presented by the central investigating agency is weak and inadequate, hence a prima facie case is not made out. Before this, former Excise Department Commissioner Kuldeep Singh has also got relief.

The court made it clear in its order that merely making allegations is not enough. The court cannot frame charges against any public official unless there is solid and credible evidence to support the allegations. The court pointed out several flaws in the charge sheet and said that satisfactory answers were not given on many points.

This case is related to the Delhi Excise Policy of 2022-23 (Arvind Kejriwal Acquitted), on the basis of which the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had registered a case. Later the Enforcement Directorate (ED) took action on money laundering charges. In this case, many leaders of Aam Aadmi Party had to go to jail and there was a long legal battle on bail petitions.

After the verdict, Arvind Kejriwal said that the entire case against him was a political conspiracy and ultimately the truth has prevailed. He alleged that an attempt was made to defame him and his party. Kejriwal said that he was kept in jail for six months, while Manish Sisodia remained in prison for almost two years. He stressed the need to focus on inflation, unemployment and basic problems in the country.

The investigating agency has indicated that after studying the order, it can be challenged in the High Court (Arvind Kejriwal Acquitted). At present this decision is being seen as a big legal and political relief for the Aam Aadmi Party.
