510 days Sisodia, 177 days Kejriwal! Which AAP leader spent how many days in jail before being acquitted in the Delhi Excise Policy case? Delhi Liquor Policy Case Verdict: Kejriwal, Sisodia Acquitted

Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia Including all the accused in the liquor policy case, they have got a big relief from Rouse Avenue Court of Delhi. The court said in its 549-page decision that no concrete evidence was found of irregularities in the new excise policy. The court also directed to take departmental action against the investigating officer of CBI on the flaws in the investigation. However, CBI has said that it will challenge the decision in the High Court.

This case kept many big leaders of Aam Aadmi Party in jail for a long time. The period of detention of prominent faces was as follows,

  • Vijay Nair – Nearly 23 months (658 days), the former AAP communications chief was arrested on 14 November 2022. He got bail on 2 September 2024.
  • Manish Sisodia – Nearly 17 months (510 days), the former education minister was arrested in February 2023.
  • Arvind Kejriwal – About 6 months (177 days), arrested in March 2024
  • Sanjay Singh – about 6 months (181 days)
  • Of. Poem – About 5 months (150 days)

How many accused was acquitted by the court?

The court acquitted a total of 23 accused in this case, which included many businessmen and middlemen. This has dealt a major blow to the long-running legal process. The acquitted accused include Kuldeep Singh, Narendra Singh, Vijay Nair, Abhishek Boinpalli, Arun Ramchandra Pillai, Mutha Gautam, Sameer Mahendru, Amandeep Singh Dhall, Arjun Pandey, Bucchibabu Gorantla, Rajesh Joshi, Damodar Prasad Sharma, Prince Kumar, Arvind Kumar Singh, Chanpreet Singh Rait, Durgesh Pathak, Amit Arora, Vinod Chauhan, Ashish Chand Mathur and Sharath Chandra. Reddy are included.

Will this be a turning point for AAP?

This decision is being considered as a political ‘lifeline’ for the Aam Aadmi Party. This may give new energy to the party which is surrounded by election shocks and allegations in Delhi. What did Kejriwal say in the press conference?

  • After the Rouse Avenue Court’s decision, Kejriwal said that for the last four years, ED, CBI and other agencies were used to falsely accuse him of ‘liquor scam’. In the nearly 600-page order, the court, looking at all the evidence and witnesses, said that there was not enough evidence to even proceed with the trial.
  • Kejriwal said that he is an honest person. He has earned only honesty and prestige in life, but Modi-Shah wanted to snatch it. Both of them conspired to destroy AAP, filed false cases, sent 5 big leaders to jail.
  • The AAP convenor said, “Now there is only one way left to stop Kejriwal – I will have to get murdered. Without that you cannot stop me.”
  • Giving a direct challenge to PM Modi, Kejriwal said, “If you have the courage, hold re-elections in Delhi. If BJP gets more than 10 seats, I will leave politics.”
  • Kejriwal attacked the condition of Delhi and said that pollution has increased. Yamuna is in bad condition. The roads have also become bad. BJP has ruined Delhi.
  • Kejriwal also talked about filing a discharge appeal in the ED case, because if the evidence is not found in the lower court, then what will be shown in the higher courts.
  • The AAP convenor also targeted Congress and asked that AAP leaders were jailed, but why not Rahul Gandhi, Robert Vadra, Sonia Gandhi? Congress is not ashamed?
