Conspiracy to create riots in Asansol before Bengal elections, 200 year old temples demolished in broad daylight; people got angry
West Bengal Communal Tension: Something happened in Asansol, West Bengal on Tuesday afternoon which spoiled the entire atmosphere. For the people living in Kalipahari area, the day had started like any other ordinary day, but by afternoon it turned into violence. An approximately 200 year old temple located in Ward No. 38 of the city was targeted by anti-social elements.
According to the local people, the worship in the temple was conducted in a normal manner on Tuesday morning. When the devotees reached the temple premises again in the afternoon, seeing the condition there, the ground slipped under their feet. The ancient idols of Maa Kali, Lord Shiva and Sankatmochan Hanuman ji installed inside the temple were lying in ruins.
Not only this, the miscreants also damaged the statues of Brahma and Lord Vishnu. As this news spread, there was silence in the entire area and soon a crowd of angry people started gathering outside the temple.
A conspiracy was hatched to spoil the atmosphere before the elections.
This incident has created a stir in political circles also. The 2026 assembly elections are near, so this incident is not being considered as ordinary sabotage. Local councilor Meena Kumari Hansda reached the spot and strongly condemned the incident. He clearly said that this could be a well-planned conspiracy with the intention of disturbing peace at this critical time of elections.

Asansol South MLA Agnimitra Paul also immediately reached the spot and raised questions on the functioning of the administration. He expressed concern that there was not a single CCTV camera in the temple premises, making the investigation even more difficult. The common public also has the same question whether their centers of faith are no longer safe?
City under heavy security cordon
The simmering anger against the incident was clearly visible on the streets. Local residents and BJP supporters led by MLA Agnimitra Paul took out a big protest march from Bhairav ​​Baba place. The protesters completely blocked GT Road, which is the lifeline of Asansol, and expressed their anger by burning tires in the middle of the road. Due to the uproar, traffic came to a standstill for hours and people had to face a lot of problems.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, the administration has converted the area into a cantonment. Along with the police force, central forces have also been deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
