Asha Bhosle Funeral: Legendary Singer to be Cremated in Mumbai with Full State Honours

Legendary singer Asha Bhosle died at 92 in Mumbai on Sunday, leaving India in mourning.


Asha Bhosle’s mortal remains reached her residence, Casa Grande, in Lower Parel, this morning for final darshan. Fans, family members, and industry colleagues gathered between 10 am and 2 pm to pay their respects. Heavy security surrounded the venue as thousands lined up to bid farewell.

The last rites will take place at Shivaji Park crematorium at 4 pm. The Maharashtra government announced full state honours for the iconic playback singer. Political leaders, film personalities, and music veterans will attend the ceremony.

Asha Bhosle, fondly called Asha Tai, breathed her last at Breach Candy Hospital on April 12. Doctors confirmed multi-organ failure following a chest infection and extreme exhaustion. Her passing marks the end of an era in Indian music.

Shraddha Kapoor, her great-niece, expressed heartbreak ahead of the funeral. Tributes poured in from across the country, with fans remembering her unmatched contribution to playback singing.

Asha Bhosle’s career spanned over seven decades. She recorded thousands of songs in multiple languages, shaping the soundscape of Indian cinema. Her versatility ranged from classical to pop, ghazals to folk. She became a symbol of resilience and creativity, inspiring generations of singers.
