Mumbai Asha Bhosle, the brightest and versatile voice of Indian music, is no more with us. His death at the age of 92 on Sunday plunged the entire nation into mourning. On Monday, his last rites were performed with full state honors and rituals at Mumbai’s historic Shivaji Park. Amidst resounding slogans of ‘Asha Tai Amar Rahein’, his son Anand lit his funeral pyre. This was a moment when it seemed as if the heartbeat of the music world had stopped. At present Asha Tai has merged into the five elements.

Last farewell with songs and tunes

Asha Tai’s last journey was no less than a celebration, as she lived her life. At the time of his last farewell, many Bollywood artists including music stalwarts Shaan and Anoop Jalota bid him a heartfelt farewell by singing his own timeless songs. This scene was heart touching, on one hand there were tears in the eyes, on the other hand there was gratitude for his tunes.

    Asha was suffering from health related problems for some time. He was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on April 11 due to breathing problems. When his condition worsened, he was shifted to the ICU, but despite many efforts of the doctors, he could not be saved. Doctors confirmed that he died due to multi-organ failure.

    Veteran personalities from the world of cinema, sports and politics came to pay their last respects. Artists and sports stalwarts like AR Rahman, Shabana Azmi, Ranveer Singh, Tabu, Jackie Shroff, Farhan Akhtar, Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammed Shiraz, Vicky Kaushal, Helen and Anuradha Paudwal paid tribute to him. From politics, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also reached and paid tribute. The entire Bollywood was seen immersed in the grief of losing this great singer.

    Asha Bhosle’s life is not just a story of success, but of hard struggle and unwavering willpower. She sang her first song with her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar for the Marathi film ‘Chala Chala Nav Bal’. However, she got her real recognition at the age of 16, when she recorded her first solo song for the film ‘Raat Ki Rani’. He lent his magical voice to more than 12000 songs in different languages ​​including Hindi, Bengali and Marathi.
