Asha Bhosle’s body wrapped in tricolour; Sachin Tendulkar breaks down, Tabu hugs Zania Bhosle

Preparations are underway as Mumbai is set to bid an emotional farewell to the legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away on Sunday, April 12, at the age of 92 due to multiple-organ failure.

Several videos of Asha Bhosle’s Antim Darshan that is underway today have been shared on social media. Ahead of the last rites, her mortal remains were placed in a glass casket, draped in the national flag and adorned with white lilies. As part of state honours, a ceremonial salute was accorded by the police.

Actor Tabu also arrived at Asha Bhosle’s residence to pay her last respects. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali Tendulkar visited the residence in Mumbai to pay homage to the iconic singer.

Asha Bhosle’s sister Meena Mangeshkar was also present at the funeral, she was appearing arriving in a wheelchair.

Music maestro A.R. Rahman also arrived at her Mumbai residence to pay his final respects. Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma laid a wreath on her mortal remains and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family.

The singer’s son, Anand Bhosle, said that people can pay their last respects at Casa Grande, Lower Parel, where she lived. Following the public viewing, the funeral procession will proceed from her residence to the Shivaji Park crematorium in Dadar, where the last rites are scheduled to be performed at 4 p.m.

Several visuals shared online show large crowds gathering at her Casa Grande residence to pay their final respects. Preparations are also underway at the Shivaji Park cremation ground, which has been decorated with flowers in tribute to the singer’s iconic life and legacy.

Asha Bhosle’s mortal remains are currently placed at her Lower Parel residence for public homage between 11 am and 3 pm so that her fans and celebs can pay tribute.

The cremation will be held at Late Bhagoji Baluji Keer Hindu Shamshan Bhoomi in Shivaji Park. The last rites will be conducted with full state honours at 4 p.m. today.
