Ashish Chanchlani Reacts To Fake ‘Interstellar 2’ Casting Rumours, Says Christopher Nolan Didn’t Sign Him

YouTuber and content creator Ashish Chanchlani has reacted after social media was flooded with fake claims suggesting that filmmaker Christopher Nolan had signed him as the lead actor for a fictional sequel to Interstellar. The viral posts, which were accompanied by AI-generated posters and fabricated headlines, prompted Ashish to issue a humorous response while making it clear that the claims were entirely false.

The rumours began circulating shortly after Ashish attended the Mumbai premiere of Christopher Nolan’s latest film, The Odyssey. Social media users started sharing edited images claiming that Nolan had cast the YouTuber as the protagonist of Interstellar 2, with some even comparing him to Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr. The fabricated posts quickly spread across platforms, leaving many users initially confused about their authenticity.

Reacting to the viral trend, Ashish took to Instagram Stories with his trademark humour. Sharing one of the edited posts, he jokingly responded to the rumours instead of issuing a serious clarification. His reaction indicated that the claims had no factual basis and were simply another example of internet users creating fictional celebrity news for entertainment.

The fake casting rumours surfaced only days after Ashish made headlines for his enthusiastic review of The Odyssey. Having attended an exclusive early screening of the film in Mumbai, he described Christopher Nolan’s latest directorial venture as one of the filmmaker’s finest works and predicted that it would emerge as a blockbuster upon release.

Following the screening, Ashish shared an extensive review on Instagram Stories, calling The Odyssey a “10/10” film. He praised its emotional storytelling, action sequences and performances, particularly applauding Matt Damon for carrying the film from start to finish. He also complimented Robert Pattinson’s performance, describing it as one of the highlights of the movie, while appreciating the performances of Tom Holland and Zendaya.

The YouTuber further stated that The Odyssey made him emotional in a way Christopher Nolan’s previous films had not. According to Ashish, the film balanced spectacle with emotional depth, featuring themes centred on family, relationships and human resilience. He also remarked that one of the horror sequences convinced him that Nolan should consider directing a full-fledged horror film in the future.

Ashish also dismissed criticism directed at the film following its teaser and trailer. He argued that viewers who had described the film as slow or uninteresting would change their opinions after watching it in theatres. Predicting a strong box-office performance, he said the film possessed broad commercial appeal and believed it would also perform well among Indian audiences.

The positive review, combined with Ashish’s visit to the exclusive premiere, appears to have inspired the wave of parody posts linking him to Christopher Nolan’s films. While many social media users recognised the edited posts as jokes, others mistakenly believed the fabricated headlines, prompting Ashish’s playful clarification.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey marks the filmmaker’s first feature since the Academy Award-winning Oppenheimer. Based on Homer’s epic poem, the film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, alongside Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya and Anne Hathaway. The film is also the first feature to be shot entirely using IMAX cameras and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release later this month.

Although the fake Interstellar 2 casting claims generated considerable online attention, Ashish’s response confirmed that there is no truth to the rumours. His humorous reaction has since become part of the viral conversation, with fans continuing to share memes inspired by the fabricated reports while celebrating the YouTuber’s light-hearted take on the internet hoax.
