Ashish Nehra Set to Continue as Gujarat Titans Head Coach

The head coach Ashish Nehra of the Gujarat Titans will stay despite the change in ownership. This comes after Ahmedabad-based Torrent Pharma company acquired the team.

With Nehra’s future uncertain as Gujarat’s Head coach following the ownership transition, the recent report confirms the new owners intend to retain him in his current role along with Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki.

Gujarat Titans made their IPL debut in 2022, and under Ashish Nehra’s guidance, the franchise clinched the maiden title in the season. The franchise recognized his contributions to the team and extended his contract for three years.

With his impressive record, Ashish Nehra is likely to be one of the highest-paid coaches in the IPL 2025 season. Reports suggest that Nehra’s salary will go up to INR 8 crores, reflecting the confidence of the new ownership of the coach.

Following the 2022 season, the side completed as runners in the 2023 season. Nehra’s retention will back his support team, including Ashish Kapoor, Mithun Manhas, Narendra Negi and Naeem Amin as assistant coaches.

Sandeep Raju will remain in the franchise as Performance analyst. While Nehra’s position appears stable, the franchise faces the challenge of filling the space left by Gary Kirsten, who served as the team’s batting coach and mentor.

Gujarat Titans were initially acquired by CVC group for INR 5,625 crore, but their current valuation is reported around INR 8000 crore.

Although BCCI has yet to confirm the change over the Gujarat Titans ownership, the franchise needs to adhere to regulatory requirements regarding ownership change.

BCCI has said that no Right to Match option shall be available. With the IPL 2025 mega auction date and Venue yet to be announced, the event is set to be hosted in London or UAE and is likely to be a day process, unlike previous IPL auctions.
