According to sources, Ashok Choudhary was allotted Patliputra University, where a total of 18 candidates were to get appointment. While all the other candidates got their appointment letters last month, Chaudhary’s appointment Stopped at the last moment.
Why was the appointment of Ashok Chaudhary stopped?
The problem has come to light regarding name discrepancy. Ashok Choudhary’s name is recorded in his educational certificates as ‘Ashok Kumar’, while his name in his election affidavit and political documents is ‘Ashok Choudhary’. A senior source associated with the University Service Commission said, “In the initial verification, we had completed the process on the basis of academic documents, but in the final verification, two different names emerged, due to which the appointment was stopped.” An official of the Higher Education Department also confirmed, saying, “In the absence of some clarifications including ambiguity regarding the name, the matter is currently pending with the department.”
Political and administrative discomfort
Although Ashok Chaudhary refused to comment on this entire matter, saying that he had no information about it, but a senior JDU leader privately admitted that this matter is creating an uncomfortable situation for both the party and the government. He said, “Earlier, the opposition had alleged conflict of interest when a minister from the ruling party was selected. Now the name controversy has made the situation more embarrassing.”
Appointment process already surrounded by controversies
This matter has come to light at a time when university appointments in Bihar are already under question. On December 15, BSUSC had released the college allotments of Political Science candidates, that too six months after the interviews… Many candidates had submitted a memorandum to the Governor and Chancellor Arif Mohammad Khan alleging that the more than five-year-long process had left them in mental stress, financial trouble and uncertainty. There have been controversies in the past regarding these appointments regarding fake experience certificates, research papers and lawsuits, due to which the entire selection process dragged on for about five years. Now the stalled appointment of Ashok Chaudhary has once again raised questions on this entire process.
