Ashok Gehlot gave a befitting reply to BJP’s attack on nepotism

Politics has become heated regarding the statement of former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Gehlot had advised BJP leaders to keep their sons away from politics, to which BJP had already expressed strong opposition.

Jaipur: There is a new stir in the politics of Rajasthan regarding the statement of former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Recently, he clarified the alleged statement given by him regarding keeping his son away from politics and gave a befitting reply to the statement which was targeted at BJP. Gehlot clarified that what he meant was not to maintain distance from politics, but to maintain distance from the functioning of the government.

Gehlot gave clarification, said – the statement was distorted

BJP leaders had presented Gehlot’s statement from the perspective of familism and filial attachment. Senior BJP leader Rajendra Rathod had given a sharp reaction on this and raised questions on the decisions of the Congress government. Gehlot himself has now given clarification on this entire controversy. He said,

‘I said keep your sons away from the government. I did not say to keep away from politics. I had given a separate house on rent to my son, he lived separately and did not live in the Chief Minister’s residence.

It is clear from this statement that Gehlot made it clear about his personal decision that his aim was not to stop the political career of the family, but to maintain distance from government responsibilities.

Advised family members to enter politics

Ashok Gehlot also made it clear in his statement that he is not in favor of stopping family members from entering politics. He openly said that family members should be brought forward. Gehlot said,

‘I would like to say to the Chief Minister and all the ministers, BJP, bring your family members forward. Be it a son, a daughter, a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law, anyone, bring it forward. The potential they have will come to the fore and the new generation will also benefit.

This statement reflects Gehlot’s democratic thinking and family perspective, where he believes that family experience and contribution should be promoted in politics.

Advice given to respect the opposition

Gehlot also taught BJP a lesson in democratic decorum on this occasion. He said that in a democracy the opposition should be respected and their questions should be answered and not attacked. Gehlot said, if the opposition raises any question, then it should be answered. This is what the public expects from you.

Respecting the opposition is important for the strength of democracy. It is clear from this statement that Gehlot gives importance to democracy and political decorum despite political controversies.
