Jitendra Shelke (55), a close aide of jailed self-styled guru Ashok Kharat, and his wife Anuradha Shelke (50) died in a horrific road accident on the Samruddhi Expressway on Friday. His car collided with a parked container truck. His son suffered serious injuries in this accident.
According to police officials, the accident occurred near Dhotre village under Kopargaon police station area of Ahmednagar district at around 12 noon on Friday. Shelke was going from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to Thane with his wife and son. While driving on the Mumbai-Nagpur Samriddhi Expressway, Jitendra Shelke’s vehicle went out of control and collided head-on with a container truck parked on the roadside.

All three were taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared Jitendra Shelke and his wife Anuradha brought dead. His son is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital. Jitendra Shelke was very close to the controversial Guru Ashok Kharat of Nashik. Kharat faces many serious charges including rape and fraud and is currently in jail. Shelke was Kharat’s business partner and also the vice-chairman of the Shivanika Trust formed by him.
Register the case and start investigation
Ahmednagar Superintendent of Police Somnath Gharge said that a case of accident has been registered at Kopargaon police station. With the help of RTO and automobile experts, a complete analysis of the accident will be done so that the real cause of the accident can be known.

The accident occurred on the Samriddhi Expressway, about 250 km from Mumbai. Police are investigating further. His close ones and family are shocked by this accident.
