Ashwin’s wife and daughters complain about not meeting them in Chepauk, Ashwin jokes about it

India’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin received complaints from his wife Prithi Narayanan and two daughters despite the team winning the first Test against Bangladesh. Prithi, who was present at Chepauk alongside the kids, interviewed her husband after his match-winning all-round display. Ashwin said that his wife and two daughters complained why he didn’t met them on Day 1 of the contest and waved at them. Prithi also urged Ashwin to shed light on his love-affair with Chepauk.

Prithi also asked what gift Ashwin would give to his children on the occasion of Daughter’s Day. Ashwin said that he would gift the ball with which he took six wickets in Bangladesh’s second innings. The 38-year-old was named the Player of the Match for his bowling and batting. The veteran scored a hundred, his sixth in the longest format. India defeated Bangladesh by 280 runs on Day 4.

Ashwin’s gift to his kids

“They want to know what would you give them on the occasion of Daughter’s day?” Prithi asked Ashwin.

“I would give them the ball I picked up a fifer with,” Ashwin responded.

Ashwin said that he wasn’t expecting to hit his 6th Test hundred.

“I don’t know how to react because things happened quickly. I was not expecting to score a hundred here. Coming back to this ground is special. There is something over here that keep me going,” he said.

“She didn’t liked the fact that I didn’t see her on the first day. It’s difficult for me to look out for the family when I am involved in the game. I try to make an effort as kids keep asking me that why I didn’t say hi to them.”

The second Test will be played in Kanpur from September 27.
