Phu Quoc International Airport recorded 50 international flights on Feb. 14, marking the highest daily figure since the airport commenced operations in 2012, signaling a vibrant Lunar New Year peak season for the island.

Total passenger throughput reached 30,651 travelers.

International passengers accounted for 18,271 (9,582 arrivals and 8,689 departures), representing nearly 60% of the day’s total volume.

Domestic passengers totaled 12,380 (5,618 arrivals and 6,762 departures).

According to the operational plan for Lunar New Year 2026, total flight movements and passenger numbers at the Phu Quoc International Airport are projected to increase significantly compared to the previous year.

Overall flights during the holiday period, which runs from Feb. 14 to 22, are expected to rise by approximately 50% compared to Lunar New Year 2025, averaging around 75 flights per day, with peak days reaching 80-84 flights. Passenger volume is forecast to exceed 720,000 travelers, with both domestic and international segments showing strong growth.

This surge represents a positive signal for local tourism and economic activity, while also placing high demands on operational management and service quality at the airport.

Phu Quoc, voted Asia’s most beautiful island by readers of Condé Nast Traveler, welcomed 983,387 arrivals in January, a 60.7% year-on-year increase.

The number of foreign visitors exceeded 278,000, meeting 13% of this year’s target.

The Vietnam’s largest island expects to receive 8.5 million tourists this year, up 5% from last year, including two million foreigners, an 11% increase.
