Asian Weightlifting C’ships: India ends campaign with 10 medals

Lovepreet Singh finished 5th in the men’s +110 kg category to conclude India’s campaign at the 2026 Asian Weightlifting C’ships in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

He improved his personal best and the Indian national record in the total lift by 6 kg, having lifted 386 Kg (174Kg + 212Kg).

He missed out on his personal best in the snatch by 1 Kg, but crossed the 210kg mark in clean & Jerk for the first time to set another national record.

Earlier in the day, the 20-year-old Martina Devi couldn’t complete any of her lifts in snatch and finished last in the women’s +86 kg category.

She, however, matched her personal best of 140 kg in Clean & Jerk, earning 5th position in that discipline, but missed out on a medal on her debut.

With this, India ended its campaign at the home championships in 11th position with 10 medals – 1 Silver, 9 Bronze.
